Volgarr the Viking Deluxe Edition - Dreamcast-game

The Dreamcast version loads noticeably faster than I remember the original doing, which is a huge plus when you’re dying repeatedly. The chiptune soundtrack really amps up the retro feel during those brutal platforming sections. It’s exactly the kind of punishing challenge I was hoping for.

The Deluxe Edition packaging is a gorgeous tribute to the Dreamcast era, and the difficulty strikes that perfect balance where every death teaches you something new. The axe throw mechanic feels so satisfying once you nail the timing.

The brutal stages have me cursing one minute and fist-pumping the next, and sliding the disc into my Dreamcast feels like a true arcade throwback. The Deluxe Edition’s extra content keeps me coming back for more, even after the umpteenth death.
